Matthew Troquille
Head Coach

Before coming to Sails, Coach Matt swam competitively for 15 years. In high school, at Dickinson High School he qualified for the state championships two years in a row in the 200 and 500 Free. Also, setting the school records in both races. Matt started his coaching career at Dickinson Gator Summer League team where he doubled the number of swimmers qualified for the championship meet in his first year and continued to increase that number over the 5 years he remained with the team. He then started coaching for SCAT for 3 years working with all age groups from 8&under to 15& over before leaving to join South Shore Sails. Matt's love for swimming is evident in his energetic and passionate coaching. His main goal for coaching is to share his love for the sport with all of his athletes by working hard and having fun.

   Christina Solis
Age Group Coach

Coach Christina (goes by Chrissy) joined Sails in 2014 as an Age Group Coach. She started swimming with the League City Barracudas at age 8. She swam in High School and played water polo. In college, she swam at the University of Incarnate Word in the fall of 2001. Chrissy graduated from University of Incarnate Word.
   Lauren Grous
Senior & Age Group Coach

Lauren started swimming competitively for her summer swim team, the Brookside Dolphins, in New Jersey, at age 8, where she immediately fell in love with the sport. She broke several club records in age groups 11-12, 13-14, and 15-18, in the 50 breaststroke, the 50 butterfly, and the 100 IM events. During her time at Brookside, she started coaching the younger swimmers and teaching private lessons at age 14. Lauren started swimming year-round at age 12 for the Greater Philadelphia Aquatic Club, training under Olympian George Breen, where she qualified every year for major showcase meets, namely Junior Olympics, in the 100/200 butterfly events, the 100/200 breaststroke events, the 200 IM, and the 50/100/200 freestyles. Lauren also swam for her high school, where she earned many county and tri-county championship titles, as well as top state times, in the 100 butterfly and 200 IM events. Lauren still holds high school records in the 100 backstroke, the 100 breaststroke, the 100 butterfly, and the 200 IM. Even though she was recruited to college as a butterflier, Lauren quickly became the breaststroke leg> Besides swimming, Lauren is also passionate about running, yoga, and her adorable dog, Rusty. She moved to Texas in 2011 and started running for the Bay Area Running Club. She has competed in several races, ranging from 5Ks to marathons. In 2016, after taking off almost a decade from swimming, Lauren joined the South Shore Sails Masters swim team, and she has currently qualified for USMS Nationals in the 200 IM, the 50 butterfly, and the 100/200/400 freestyles. She was also the October 2016 overall winner of the Snapping Tortuga 2.5K Open Water race in Lake Conroe. Now that Lauren has rekindled her love for swimming, she is thrilled to join the coaching staff at South Shore Sails. She wants to give back to the swimming community, in particular by helping grow, develop, and inspire this next generation of young swimmers. GO SAILS!!!
  Morgan Miller
Age Group Coach

Coach Morgan moved to Houston in August after an extensive swimming and coaching career. She grew up in Fernley, Nevada where she swam for Fernley High School and Northern Nevada Aquatics. She still holds all of her high school records. Morgan continued her swimming career at Sierra College, where she earned 7 Academic All-American honors and 3 conference titles in her one year of attendance. Morgan then accepted a scholarship to San Jose State, where she swam under Sage Hopkins and USA National Coach Pete Raykovich and was a 6-time Academic All-Conference award recipient. She also has 5 times on SJSU's All-Time Top 10 list (50 Free, 200IM, 400IM, 100 Back, 200 Back) and was part of the 2013 WAC Championship winning team. Morgan still swims masters and is ranked in the top 10 nationally in her age group. She has been coaching for 4 years and loves it because she gets to share her passion for swimming with others!
