Metabolic Testing
Resting Metabolic Rate
Resting Metabolic Rate or RMR is the number of calories your body burns at rest. This test determines the number of calories your body needs during the day – telling you how many calories you need to eat. The test is done at rest – you are sitting in a reclined position while breathing through a tube. You must have fasted for at least 4 hours prior to the test, have not had any caffeine nor exercised on the day of the test. It is a 30 minute appointment booked through the Front Desk.
VO2
VO2 is the volume of oxygen your body consumes at various intensity levels. Basically, it is the efficiency in which your body uses oxygen. This test determines what the best heart rate zone is for you to exercise in based on your goal. It is an active test but does not require running, it can be done while walking with the incline increasing rather than speed. Or if you prefer, the test can be administered on almost any piece of cardio equipment other than a treadmill. You must have fasted for at least 4 hours prior to the test, have not had any caffeine nor exercised on the day of the test. It is a 60 minute appointment booked through the Front Desk.
